Huntingwood Trails, virtually on the banks of Silver Creek, and surrounded by provincially significant wetlands, is a development for which the Town of Collingwood had closed the file due to failure to fulfill conditions for Draft Plan of Subdivision. The proponent appealed to the OLT and Watershed Trust members took party status on the side of the Town to ensure that the proposed development had sufficient regard for the surrounding wetlands.  These efforts met with partial success – Huntingwood can move forward with 100 units on a property adjacent to Silver Creek with some conditions, including donating the environmentally protected wetland portion of the property to the town.  Their proposal to develop the highly sensitive eastern lands was denied, although more recently, the proponent has submitted an alternate design for the eastern lands that is presently under review by the Town.
