The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA) has come out with an excellent Summary Report on Phragmites australis, one of our most troublesome invasive species. After 2,500 volunteer hours and the removal of more than 16,000 kg of Phragmites from Collingwood’s shoreline, we are seeing reduced density and size of Phragmites regrowth. With consistent annual management and continued efforts, it may be possible to control Phragmites. Well done, all who volunteered and contributed!
