Join us for the Watershed Trust AGM — Thursday January 15, 2026
Please join your fellow Blue Mountain Watershed Trust Foundation members for the Watershed Trust’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and to celebrate our 30th year as a local environmental charity!
Come learn more about the positive impact BMWT has had in protecting our watersheds and natural habits, and our current efforts in that regard, notably our ongoing fight against Huntingwood Trails East, a wrongheaded plan to develop 69 residences in a wetland wilderness between Highway 26 and the Georgian Trail.
Our AGM this year is in a very special location, The Willow Room, above fine foods store Dags & Willow on Second Street in downtown Collingwood. Refreshments will be provided. We are lucky to have Dr. Donald Avery, professor emeritus of history at University of Western Ontario and author of a recent book on protecting the Niagara Escarpment, as our guest speaker.
And now for the official notice and more detail:

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of members of the Blue Mountain Watershed Trust Foundation will take place at Dags and Willow Cheese and Gourmet Shop, 25 Second Street, Collingwood ON, L9Y1E4 at the hour of 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 15.
This year we proudly recognize 30 years of celebrating, advocating for, and protecting the precious natural heritage of the Blue Mountain Watershed. On this occasion we are so excited to present keynote speaker Dr. Donald Avery, Retired Professor of History at the University of Western Ontario, writer, environmentalist, local resident, and former member of the Trust. He will speak on Environmental Activism and Government Stewardship, based on his recently published book, Protecting the Ontario Niagara Escarpment, which chronicles efforts to protect this UNESCO World Heritage Site from the 1960s to present day.
The focal point of the Blue Mountain Watershed is the Silver Creek Wetland, the last provincially significant wetland on South Georgian Bay. It is under unrelenting development pressure and this year your Board has committed unprecedented time, effort and resources to protecting both this significant natural resource and our residents from danger of flooding caused by irresponsible developments like Huntingwood Trails East. More details at the meeting, but suffice to say, we need your help like never before.
We look forward to seeing you.
On behalf of the Watershed Trust Board of Directors and Watershed Action Group, I wish you all the very best of the holiday season.
Carl Michener, President
BMWT Board of Directors
