A pair of Pileated Woodpeckers require a home territory of more than 40 ha of mature forest to settle so they are not encountered with much frequency. The largest woodpecker in North America, this big dashing bird with a red crest seemed to be quite at home in the wooded area of the Habourview Park trail.
